RARE OPPORTUNITY IN THE ONLINE SPACE THAT YOUR COMPETITORS MAY BE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF (1 MIN 20 SECS READ)

I decided to share a short insight into some actions most businesses are taking advantage of during this period to increase customer loyalty, business affinity, better engagement with customers, and drive traffic to their websites and social media pages to drive sales in the short and mostly in medium to long-term.

Most people are not buying now, but after this pandemic is over, people will begin to spend beyond the normal. It’s during this period that people are making decisions psychologically and it’s the brands that keep themselves, their offers plus relevant content in their faces, that will benefit from the potential BOOM after things die down. 

There’s A Global Spike In Online Traffic

Online traffic across social media, publisher websites, and some online apps/sites have increased between 25% – 100%+(depending on the nature of the site) globally. In fact, according to BBC, Zoom CEO stated that “As of the end of December 2019, the maximum of daily meeting participants, both free and paid, was approximately 10million. In March this year, we reached 200million” This extreme spike in online activity can be of great benefit to businesses.

Things You Can Do To Take Advantage of This Season:

1. Increase Social Media Activity: Increase social media activity and engagement with content that’s relevant to the COVID-19 pandemic. It can be safety measures or even some positive news you read on a trusted news site. This will get the attention of your audience and have them love your brand more(CONTENT IS KING). There’s too much negative news out there, BE THE DIFFERENCE!

2. Give Value and Inspiration: Unless you are selling essentials, let your social media content be about 80% of relevant content, motivation, funny yet relatable content, throwbacks that will get people interested in your page, inspirational quotes, etc, and only 20% be about your brand, what you stand for and the products/services available. People are bored, keep them intrigued. People are scared, give them positive energy. People aren’t sure of what’s going on, give them relevant information.

3. Run More Ads: Run more Ads on social media(not really about your product/services but also about the relevant content I mentioned in the earlier point). Also, due to this spike, run display Ads on publisher platforms like ours(Tonaton) and drive this high traffic spike to your own website and your social media pages. Your adverts should not just be about your products, but about assurance and positive messages for the audience. This shows how concerned you are and this will drive a lot of traffic to your own pages.

This is not the time to be focusing on your products/services and vision. First, give them positive energy content, then after mention your services/products too.
